The Called Fellowship Baptist Church

Receiving the Call
God's plan of the ages has been based upon human leadership under divine commission and guidance. In obedience to God, Pastor Kevin .A. Powell received God's divine commission to shepherd a body of believers. The preparation for this great appointment to plant a church took root when 'Pastor Powell accepted his call into the ministry. The time that he labored as a youth pastor helped to equip him for the vision that he had received. Bathed with countless hours of prayer and meditation, Pastor Powell set in motion the planting of The Called Fellowship Baptist Church on September 17, 2.000. The birth of The Called Fellowship Baptist Church was witnessed by seventeen members and eleven friends.

Church Colors
The church colors are gold and crimson. The gold represents the deity of the Godhead, the father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (the Holy Trinity), eternally exiting in three persons, equally eternal, equally powerful, equally glorious, and equally God.

The crimson represents the shed blood of our Savior Jesus Christ. Hebrews 9:2.2b tells us that without the shedding of blood there is no remission. .And, 1John 1:7 says, "'But If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cIeanseth us from all sin.

Church Motto
The church motto is "Called to Worship, Work and Witness’ which is derived from the scriptures: Revelations 4:10-11. Ephesians 2.10 and Matthew 2.8:18-20.

Church Purpose
The purpose of The Called Fellowship Baptist Church is to glorify God through the following ministries

  1. Evangelism/Missions - Sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in our community and throughout the world.
  2. Education - Helping members develop into mature believers through Sunday school, Bible classes and other appropriate means.
  3. Worship - Encouraging members to participate in corporate worship opportunities and private times of devotion.
  4. Benevolence - Meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the Church membership as well as others outside the Church whenever possible.
  5. Fellowship - Providing a family atmosphere where believers can get to know each other, pray for, support and encourage each other.

Statement of Faith
The Called Fellowship Baptist Church holds the following Statement of Faith as being a basic summary of its doctrinal beliefs.

  1. We affirm the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, and authoritative word of God for faith and practice.
  2. We affirm there is one God, eternally existent in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. We affirm the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutionary and atoning death, His bodily Resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His imminent return in power and glory.
  4. We affirm the Genesis account of creation; that it is to be accepted literally, allegorically or figuratively; that man’s creation is not a matter of evolutionary change of species, or an evolutionary development from lower to higher forms.
  5. We affirm that man, by transgression, fell from his original created state of innocence into a state of condemnation, separating himself from his Creator. He remains in this state of alienation unless he is delivered by the power of the Gospel.
  6. We affirm that salvation from sin is offered freely to all men who repent of their rebellion and place their unqualified faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  7. We affirm the biblical injunction for believers to be baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  This ordinance is a public testimony of one’s faith in Christ, showing forth his desire to be identified with the Lord’s death, burial and resurrection.
  8. We affirm that all believers, upon spiritual self-examination, are eligible to participate in the Lord’s Supper.  This ordinance is a graphic portrayal of the close communion shared between the believer and his Lord.
  9. We affirm the present indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit, enabling each believer to live a godly life.
  10. We affirm that all regenerate believers will continue exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit in their lives.  Perseverance is the mark that distinguishes true believers from those merely professing faith in Christ.
  11. We affirm that the saved of all ages will be resurrected unto life and the lost unto damnation.  We reject the doctrines of conditional immortality and annihilation.
  12. We affirm that civil government is ordained by God to uphold peace and righteousness and execute judgment on evil.  Believers are commanded in Scripture to be subject to civil authority.  Civil disobedience is only advised when the government established laws clearly in violation to God’s Word.
